At Bistro Royal, we ensure a genuine bistro feeling, exactly as you’d find it on the street corners of some of the worlds most elegant capitals. – Best of all? We are just a trip to Kongens Nytorv away. Here we serve you big smiles and a beautiful setting with brown leather sofas, intimate dining booths and Danish Børge Mogensen chairs.

Both exquisite specialties and classic favorites play the leads in our Christmas menu this year. Welcome the holidays with creamy a lobster bisque served with apple, salt baked celery and chervil, duck confit served with truffle mashed potatoes, tempered red cabbage, hazelnuts and a Christmas sauce or enjoy our tournedos rossini on a butter roasted crouton with truffle sauce, pan seared foie gras, freshly shredded truffles and warm crispy fries. Our dessert selection also celebrates the holidays sporting a Christmas chocolate mousse served with orange meringue and caramelized nuts as well as a panna cotta of white chocolate assisted by cherries and crispy rice.

Great news: Soon you can get take away delivered from ALL OF Madklubben’s restaurants!

In April something new and exciting happened at three of Madklubben’s popular restaurants. After many year’s of hungry requests from our guests, Alabama Social, Gran Torino and Food Club opened for take away. And we think it has gone quite well. In fact we think it has gone so well, that we’ve decided to expand the concept to ALL of the restaurants in the Madklubben family!

We will start with our pizza joints Frankies from October 20th, and in the coming weeks the rest of the restaurants will follow. So soon you will be able to enjoy our juicy steaks, great salads, delicious desserts and much, much more whenever and wherever you want!

Wolt will be our partner in this endeavor, and it will be possible to order your food directly via Wolt’s mobile app and directly from Wolt’s website.

We’re looking forward to telling you more about the menus from our take away restaurants, and we will be sure to let your know when a new restaurant is open for take away. Until then you can work up an appetite and look forward to honest and tasty take away from Saturday October 20th. We sure do!

New Year’s Eve 2018/2019 is slowly getting closer. And even though it mentally still feels like miles away, we can’t stop being just a little excited for this always amazing and festive evening. True to tradition we repeat the succes of the last couple of year’s and invite you to a New Year’s Eve dinner at all Madklubben’s restaurants on the last day of the year. Theres something for everyone (and every age!) and the prices span from DKK 600 to DKK 1.400 per person. While some of our restaurants let you pick and choose your own beverages others have gone the extra mile to tailor an elegant wine pairing as a part of the package.

This year – for something special – we also would love to welcome you inside to our New Year’s Eve dinner at Madklubben’s event space at Østerbro. This will be a social dining experience with an upscale 3 course dinner, free beverages, bubbles and bingo on the program!

Okay, so we know you might be thinking ”Why on earth are they advertising for Christmas already?”, while you pause and realize that it might actually not be that long before the malls are covered in sparkly ornaments and supermarkets are packed with candy canes and peppernuts (check the link to learn more about this classic Danish Christmas cookie.)

Don’t worry there’s still some time to go, but it’s now you have to get going with booking a table if you want to secure the perfect date and time for this year’s Christmas dinner with your colleagues, friends or family.

Last year we presented our festive and “Christmassy” landing page which can help you get a full overview of all our restaurants, which have a special Christmas menu for you and your party. (And yes, we thought about dressing it up even further with snow and elves, but we thought it would be better to ease you into it). On the site groups of 10 guests or more can explore classic and more untraditional Christmas restaurant experiences all characterized by scrumptious food and more than fair prices.

Madklubben expands: Soon we will open our second restaurant in Aarhus

Yes, you heard right! We love Aarhus, our wonderful staff and the great welcome of Madklubben, that we have experienced. Therefore we wish to expand and are now on our way with our second restaurant in Aarhus City.

What?
Inspiration and experience will be collected from Bistro Royal and Madklubben Steak in Copenhagen, but it won’t be a copy hereof or a Madklubben Aarhus 2.0, that we will open up for. The atmosphere will be created by New York vibes, Danish design and Francophile feelings, and you can look forward to an à la carte menu including everything from steak, tartare, fish, pork and duck to green and garnish in all forms. Oh and not to forget a decent wine menu with something for all preferences. The price of a 3 course dinner will be around DKK 300, and for lunch we will offer classic bistro serverings and Danish “smørrebrød” for also a favorable price.

Where?

We will take over the rustic location of the previous restaurant and night club “Castenskiold” – right at the sunny side of the central creek in Aarhus, just a few hundred meters away from our other address at Hack Kampmanns Plads. Our preparations for the renovation project are already in full motion, and we are looking forward to welcome you inside to a newly renovated dining spot with capacity of 120 guests indoors. We are quite sure that our 100 seats outside in the sun also will be a great hit when the weather is nice.

When?

We won’t miss out of the cozy months of Christmas, why we will be ready to open up for our new restaurant already in November this year, which we are still working on finding the the perfect name for. In sight we look forward to also be opening up for breakfast and hereby be an all day restaurant.

The following is from Copenhagen Cooking’s website: Copenhagen Cooking & Food Festival is an annual event which celebrates the culinary culture of Copenhagen as well as the whole of Denmark as a great food country. The festival is for everyone who loves food, and hosts more than 100 unique events over 10 days at the end of August. Our official theme, ‘Breaking the New’, signals that the festival offers unique and different dining experiences and showcases the latest food trends.

  • Sunday the 26th of August: 3 restaurants in 1 night: Food Crawl at Bistro Royal, Bazaar and Madklubben. Sunday September 2nd you have the unique opportunity to dine at 3 different restaurants. Walk or bike between Bistro Royal on Kongens Nytorv, Bazaar in Dr. Tværgade and Madklubben Bistro-de-Luxe in Store Kongensgade. The Food Crawl concept breaks the boundaries of a classic dining experience. You’ll ”jump” from restaurant to restaurant without leaving the city center and while some guests get their own table others will be joined in small groups, at long communal tables or at our dining bars. Beverages are ordered and paid on the evening. Please note, that you can choose between 3 different routes. Please double-check which route you purchase so you don’t begin your Food Crawl at the wrong restaurant.

  • Monday the 27th of August: ”Grim Buffet”: A sustainable buffet created by FOOD CLUB and GRIM. In collaboration with FOOD CLUB in Nørrebro the two women behind GRIM, Carolin Schiemer and Petra Kaukua, shines a light on the issue. GRIM delivers unsightly fruits and veggies to restaurants as well as private consumers in the form of food boxes. The produce will be incorporated as part of a grand and green buffet showing that ugly ingredients may just as well transform into a beautiful taste experience. All food, wine, beer, soft drinks, coffee and tea are included in the price and guests have 1,5 hours to eat their way through the vegetarian and vegan dishes on the buffet. There will be no meat on the buffet.

  • Thursday the 30th of August: Bazaar x Bilal Irshed Trio: Vegan Social Dinner featuring 1001 Night’s Greens. Surround yourself with the exotic and the other worldly when Restaurant Bazaar located in the old post office in Dronningens Tværgade serves up a vegan dinner at communal tables. We dine side by side with new friends and enjoy an Arabic inspired feast with no less than 15 dishes served to share ”family style” in 4 heats. Enjoy an evening focusing on green and sustainable gastronomy inspired by one of the world’s richest food cultures including baba ganoush, zhug, tabouleh and flame grilled veggies from near and afar. We’ll combine taste, smell and sound when Bilal Irshed Trio scores the dinner. Bilal is born in Palestine and is known for his unique and elegant approach to the traditional ”oud”, which can best be described as a pear-shaped Middle Eastern lute. The rest of the trio consists of Rasmus Møldrup on the double bass and percussionist Yohan Ramon.

Today March 26th and tomorrow March 27thBistro Royal located at the corner of Kongens Nytorv and Gothersgade will be filled with craftsmen, chaos and construction. The kitchen facilities in our busy restaurant can no longer keep up, why we these days are making a complete renovation. – And in the same round also will be applying our floors an upgrade.

Brunch dates, lunch servings and intimate dinners aren’t quite the same surrounded by dust and din, why we have chosen to close down Bistro Royal until Wednesday March 28th where we are looking forward to open up for an inviting and improved restaurant.  We will see you soon!

The best tastes of winter: Check out the new menu at Bistro Royal

The weather is grey. The wind is freezing. Cold rain is falling from the sky. At Bistro Royal we find the long months of winter to be the best excuse to get close and warm up in the presence of each other. And what better way to do so than in company of splendid, seasonal servings?

At the corner of Konges Nytorv and Gothersgade we have collected all the best commodities and tastes which the season has to offer. Further we have created a series of winter friendly dishes with a colorful boost of cheer adorning on top. Taste our pan fried sole served with glazed salsify and parsley potato mash in the color of spring. Does the spring feel too far away though? Then you should eat your way to a winter getaway in our Asian inspired brown crab with lime, basil, Japanese mayonnaise and sesame tapioca.

And yes. For many people January means the month of health. So in the attempt to get all six pieces of fruit and greens a day, we suggest that you look closer to our selection of desserts. Here you’ll find powerfoods in the shape of caramelized apple mazarin cake and Poire Belle Hélène à la Royal. The fact that both desserts are being served with vanilla ice cream, honeycomb, Valrhona chocolate sauce or caramelized almonds we just find to be the perfect way to warm up the soul on the really cold days.
