Welcome to Gran Torino

It’s all about the pizza at Gran Torino where the smoldering Valoriani stone oven makes sure each pie is baked to perfection. Our pizzas are inspired by the Neapolitan tradition where the crust is crispy but the middle soft, chewy and tasty. Grab a quick pizza to go or take a seat in the restaurant for a dinner complete with antipasti, dessert and wine. Enjoy the view over Copenhagen’s lakes, or catch a glimpse of the busy chefs through the big window separating the kitchen and the dining room. In February of 2017 Gran Torino moved to a new beautiful space at Sortedam Dossering number 5.

Big plans for 2018: Get excited for these new Madklubben restaurants

2017 was a fantastic year for our Copenhagen based restaurant family. We welcomed Madklubben Frederiksberg in a 19th century train station, opened the doors to Tony’s Østerbro as well as a stylish event space in the iconic ”PARK” building on Østerbrogade, relocated Asian crowd favorite Hanzō to Værnedamsvej and premiered Madklubben Nørrebro in a semi-secret courtyard below the city’s famous ”IRMA” rooftop neon signs.

Now we welcome 2018 and it will be another year packed with new restaurants as well as transformations of existing venues. Get the full lowdown here:

Madklubben Østerbro: The final chapter of our grand transformation of the historic ”PARK” building opened in the beginning of January in the shape of Madklubben Østerbro. Book a table for a dining experience and read all about the new restaurant by clicking here.

FOOD CLUB: By the end of January we’ll open the doors to a brand new concept in the Madklubben family: FOOD CLUB. Here you can expect a buffet like you’ve never tried one before, packed with free range meats, organic vegetables and sustainable ingredients. The price tag of 250 DKK on weekdays and 300 DKK on weekends will include ALL food and beverages. Keep updated on the development of FOOD CLUB here.

BAZAAR: In the spring of 2018 we’ll welcome restaurant BAZAAR in a former post office building in the heart of Copenhagen. Expect a stylish and irresistible tribute to the Moorish kitchen, which you may also know as the Berber kitchen or Arabian kitchen. In other words, a stunning food culture stretching all the way from Syria in the East along the Mediterranean to the South of Spain and further down to Morocco in North Africa. Follow how work on BAZAAR is progressing through this Facebook page.

Madklubben Aarhus: By May 2018 we’ll open our first restaurant in Jutland in Denmark’s second largest city, Aarhus. We’re moving in to the stunning “Aarhus Custom House” dating back to the 19th century. Here you can look forward to a grand Madklubben restaurant inspired by the people, food and culture of Aarhus. We’ll be able to seat 200 to 250 guests indoors and an equal amount outdoors during the summer. The concept will be classic “Madklubben” with one course from DKK 125, 2 courses from DKK 200 and 3 courses from DKK 225. Read more about the project (in Danish) through Aarhus Update here and follow the development of the project on Facebook here.

Mystery project in Vesterbro: On the first day of the year we unveiled (article in Danish) that the Madklubben group will open a new project in the space adjacent to Madklubben Vesterbro during 2018. For many years a small lamp store has occupied the address but what we plan to do with the store won’t be revealed until later this year. Stay tuned!

Last chance: See where we still have available seats for New Year’s

Oh sweet month of Christmas, where are you going? Time flies, soon it’s December 24th, and before we know it, we once again face the welcoming of a new and exciting year.

But if you still haven’ planned how to round off 2017 and greet 2018,  then we suggest that you stop by our webshop, where you can still find tickets for a refined New Year’s Eve dinner at one of Madklubben’s restaurants. But hurry – just as New Year’s fireworks the ticket sale has been an explosive affair so far.

To get the full overview of our restaurants and remaining tickets, take a look at Madklubben’s webshop right here.

Enjoy a food journey to Napoli with New Year’s Eve dinner at Gran Torino

Enjoy a food journey to Napoli with New Year’s Eve dinner at Gran Torino

The closest you’ll get to celebrating New Year’s Eve in Naples without having to leave Copenhagen. Gran Torino serves up a lavish fest on the last night of 2017 featuring 8 starters, a divine carpaccio, gourmet pizza and a sinful chocolate dessert.

Gran Torino ensures you that your New Year’s Eve will be both intriguing, impressive and international. We have decorated our fabulous restaurant by “the Copenhagen lakes” with colorful tiles, carrousel horses and crazy colors on the walls. We’re combining true New Year’s Eve spirit and Italian love when we serve up our take on an Italian celebratory dinner.

Among the exquisite anti pasti you’ll find tasty san daniele ham and artichoke plus bresaola and ricotta. How does salsiccia, mushrooms and hazelnuts sound to you? Or prosciutto cotto and black truffle? We can reveal that it is just some of the Italian commodities our pizza tasting will be offering. Let the dessert bring you fireworks when we serve our chocolate terrine with port wine, almonds and blood orange before the fireworks continue outside at midnight.

Read more about our event and take part in our New Year celebrations for the great price of DKK 500 by clicking here. Spice up your evening by purchasing our wine menu here. Are you bringing the kids? No worries. We offer a “children edition” of our New Year’s Eve menu for half the price right here.

At 11.30 pm we thank you for tonight and wish each other a happy New Year so our lovely staff can get home and enjoy the celebrations with friends and family. We are looking forward to be sending you happy and full towards the new year!

At Gran Torino we serve an Italian Christmas dinner – want to join us?

At Gran Torino we serve an Italian Christmas dinner – want to join us?

Overlooking Copenhagen’s manmade “lakes”, which separate Downtown from Nørrebro you’ll find our pizza pusher – Gran Torino – mixing an urban Neapolitan vibe with stylish Danish design. An unorthodox yet 100% scrumptious Christmas destination.

Come together and “travel” to Naples for your Christmas party and get a taste of the Italian traditions. We’re baking Christmas goodies in our Valoriani stone oven, but instead of Danish butter cookies and pastries it’s pizza, we will be serving up! The holidays are being celebrated all over the world. – Curious of how the Italians do it? Let us show you!

For starters you’ll get to taste the best of Italy in a plenitude of small dishes of cheese, ham, fish and other Italian delicacies. For the main course the head chef serves his take on Christmas on a sourdough crust with a mix from the pizza menu infused with new surprises and ideas. As the grand final we’ll serve you the Gran Torino tiramisu with espresso, ameretto, vanilla liqueur and marsala.

Click here if you wish to see all your options and how you book a table. Less than 10 persons? No worries – if you just bring the party, we’ll bring the food! The restaurant’s Christmas à la carte comes into force from November 7th.

PS. Remember you can continue the celebrations at Madklubben’s cocktail bar Bar Next Door after your Christmas dinner.

Got the Christmas party under control yet?

Got the Christmas party under control yet?

Okay, so we know you might be thinking ”Why on earth are they advertising for Christmas already?”, while you pause and realize that it might actually not be that long before the malls are covered in sparkly ornaments and supermarkets are packed with candy canes and peppernuts (check the link to learn more about this classic Danish Christmas cookie.)

Don’t worry there’s still some time to go, but it’s now you have to get going with booking a table if you want to secure the perfect date and time for this year’s Christmas dinner with your colleagues, friends or family.

We’ve gathered all our restaurants on one festive and ”Christmassy” landing page (we thought about dressing it up even further with snow and elves, but we thought it would be better to ease you into it.) On the site groups of 10 guests or more can explore classic and more untraditional Christmas restaurant experiences all characterized by scrumptious food and more than fair prices.

See you at madklubben.dk/en/christmas soon!

Fireworks for foodies: The tickets for New Year’s Eve have been released

Fireworks for foodies: The tickets for New Year’s Eve have been released

End 2017 with a bang at one of Madklubben’s restaurants in Copenhagen. Our skilled chefs have developed a range of delicious and elegant menus, which can be enjoyed at our beautiful venues across town from as little as DKK 500 per person. If you know just a little about New Year’s prices in the Danish capital, you’ll also know that it’s quite the scoop.

While some of our restaurants serve up a menu for DKK 500 with the option of adding a tailored wine menu other restaurants have opted to include the beverages in the package price, which will run at DKK 1.000 as a result. At Alabama Social and Bar Next Door they’re pulling out all the stops with spectacular wines and cocktails resulting in a seat price of DKK 1.200 and DKK 1.400 respectively.

Get the full low down on all your dining options for New Year’s Eve on December 31st 2017 and secure your tickets already today. Tickets for Madklubben Østerbro and Hanzō will be released in the coming weeks.

Back to school: Gran Torino makes new top 5 listing student budget friendly restaurants

Students work hard, so they need to spoil themselves by going out to dinner without burning a hole in their pockets. Thus reads the into to a brand new restaurantguide from CBS Wire written by the talented and hungry blogger Caroline Sølver of silverstories.dk

She highlights Madklubben’s restaurants as great go-to places when you feel like a three course menu and a glass of wine or a cocktail: ”Luckily, Copenhagen has Madklubben – a collective of restaurants offering fine dining at low prices.”

We’re super proud of the kind words and not least the fact that Gran Torino – our Italian pizza pusher in the district of Nørrebro – has received one of the five coveted spots on the list:

”The menu is quite simple: three courses for 200 kroner. An example of a menu could be mozzarella di bufala as a first course, pizza for the main course and tiramisu for dessert. Yes, please! If you are not up for the full Monty, Gran Torino also allows you to pick only one or two courses free of choice.”

Check out the full guide to student friendly restaurants here and take a look at Gran Torino’s menu here. We’ll see you soon for a pizza party!

Where to eat? Where to drink? Where to let the kids play? Where to go partying? Those are just some of the questions that Danish blogger Cecilie Rubini aka. Sneglcille sets out to answer in her newly published guide to summertime fun in Copenhagen (in Danish).

Cecilie has been writing for 8 years and was recently elected to be part of the brand new and handpicked blogging community Confetti CPH. Her ability to seek out quality minded, irresistible and oftentimes ”off the beaten path” experiences comes through in the tempting article titled ”On vacation in Copenhagen: With and without kids.”

In her guide Cecilie has – in her own words – collected ”all her favorite places”. We’re super proud that Madklubben’s restaurant family is mentioned as a must when trying to decide on where to go out for dinner in the Danish capital:

”There are many restaurants to chose between, but my favorites are Steak Royal, Bistro Royal, Gran Torino and Tony’s. At the first two you HAVE to order the Coupe Royal for dessert.”

Wondering what a Coupe Royal is? Then check out our tribute article to the sinful dessert mixing ice cream, caramel, nuts and Oreos (in Danish). You can read more about each of Cecilie’s Madklubben recommendations by clicking on the various restaurant names in the quote above.

Have a great summer! We hope to see you at one of our restaurants soon…
