“A neoclassical masterpiece from 1926” is probably the best way to describe the building we call home. Originally constructed as an entry point to Østerbro Athletic Stadium the street facade still boasts the impressive art deco passageway, though it’s no longer used as the main entrance. The building was designed by Danish architects Arthur Wittmaack and Vilhelm Hvalsøe famous for other Copenhagen landmarks such as Axelborg in front of Tivoli Gardens and The Church of Absalon in Vesterbro, which has since been transformed to a cultural melting pot and event space.
Madklubben acquired part of the iconic building in the spring of 2017. The building used to house a wide array of night clubs and restaurants and will be resurrected with several new Madklubben concepts. The first to open was Tony’s Østerbro on August 1st 2017 – a duplicate of our Italian crowd favorite close to Nyhavn.
The second part of the project isn’t exactly a restaurant of its own but we’ve created a beautiful event space for large groups and parties in the same building. We launched this part of the project in the end of October, so if you’re looking for the perfect place for your birthday party, wedding, company celebration etc. then look no further. The event space will seat up to 200 guests.
By the end of the year, the third and final part of the project, Madklubben Østerbro, will join the family with a capacity of a whopping 350 guests. We can’t wait to show you the finished result!
