A part of the danish history

Welcome to Madklubben Home of Carlsberg. A restaurant located in Carlsberg's historic buildings at the top of the hill, Valby Bakke, placed right on top of The Jacobsen Brewhouse. The restaurant will be part of the Home of Carlsberg, and therefore a place for beer connoisseurs, history enthusiasts, and local Copenhageners. Additionally, it will also be a place where you can find classic courses on the menu.

Smørrebrød for lunch, and a modern take on the 3-course menu, as you know it from our other Madklubben restaurants. The restaurant is located in the part of the old brewery where the iconic Bordeaux-colored beer crates were produced. The crates, which now mainly serve as flea market finds, carry the echoes of history and are a tangible symbol of the story told in the Home of Carlsberg.

It's right here where it all began. The birthplace of Carlsberg, and you can feel that it's a place filled with history. At Madklubben, we look forward to being a part of writing the next chapter out here.

Anders Aagaard – founder of Madklubben

The Idea

Anders Aagaard

As the founder of Madklubben, Anders Aagaard looks forward to opening the largest restaurant he has opened with Madklubben. It's not just because of the size, but more so because it's situated in some of Copenhagen's most historic premises. The menu will also be influenced by the surroundings. Therefore, the kitchen will frequently draw from the brewery's production – both in the bread, which will be baked with yeast from the beer production, and as basic elements and flavoring in the dishes.

Brewer Bjarke

As a guest in the restaurant, there is a good chance you will spot the house brewer, Bjarke Bertelsen. He often roams around adjusting the three large copper kettles at the back of the restaurant. Although they look nice, they are certainly not just for show – they are an integral part of the brewery's production. Bjarke began homebrewing beer in the early 2000s when he lived in the Netherlands. Since then, his passion for craft beer has only grown. Today, he is the house brewer, and it is a dream job for him because he gets to convey beer through taste.

NEW YEAR'S AT MADKLUBBEN HOME OF CARLSBERG

Let us take care of the food and drinks for the last evening of 2024. Start with a round of snacks, followed by a 4-course menu. You can also choose between a wine or beer pairing.

You’ll have the table all evening until we send you off with a "Happy New Year" at 11:30 pm.

Event spaces

Madklubben Home of Carlsberg is more than just a restaurant. As the largest Madklubben restaurant to date, the building hosts several spacious areas that invite various events.

Our event spaces include semi-private and private dining areas for larger groups looking to enjoy an evening together. We also have the capacity to host big events for companies in need of a venue for a larger gathering.
